Curtis Chambers

Researcher. Engineer. Professional Dad.

I'm Curtis Chambers, a PhD student at UC Berkeley & UCSF. Before returning to academia, I spent more than two decades building technology companies and products used by millions of people around the world.

Most notably, I was the Head of Engineering at Uber, where I designed the architecture for the entire software stack — from the real-time dispatch system to the mobile apps. I also started and led the engineering teams that built UberEATS and UberFreight.

I serve on the Board of Trustees at the University of San Diego, where I founded the Center for Digital Civil Society to advocate for equitable and ethically responsible AI. I've also created scholarships and funds supporting diversity in engineering.

Outside of work and research, I enjoy photography, boating, wakesurfing, motorcycling and exploring the Bay Area.
